!!HUGE WORK IN PROGRESS!!

"Where the Sea Lies Still" is a personal worldbuilding and character design project that dives into a mysterious ocean-themed world heavily inspired by the Soulsborne/Elden Ring games.
The main focus of this project is the creation of characters and their designs, showcasing my process from initial sketches to fully fleshed-out concepts. Alongside this, there will be some environmental work like map concepts, architecture studies/sketches, props, and other designs. The purpose was to give myself a challenge and push myself to do stuff a bit outside my comfort and just learn new things in the process.

Sketches, Silhouettes & Roughs – Early explorations of The Remnant, enemies, NPCs, and key figures, or even just related initial ideation sketches.

Environmental Concepts, thumbnails, atmospheric shots

Number 1 was chosen because of its stormy (or after-storm??) atmosphere. The foggy, bluish-green fits the ocean-themed environment and makes it feel dead, oppressive and like the abyss of the ocean resurfaced to haunt the overworld, especially with the sky which is almost fully blanketed by thick grey clouds and barely allows the sun to peek through.
Number 2 was chosen because it felt like a "good ending". The curse has been lifted and the suffocating grip of the stormy clouds are now gone and give way to the warm sun which represents the freedom of the souls that were trapped on this land, undead and unable to move on. The kingdom is now put to rest.
The pinks/purples, oranges strayed too far from the coolness of the ocean and the green variation made it feel toxic, which wasn't what I was looking for.
